After divorce many do not think about what happens to the fathers. For the most part the mother is going to be the parent that has the custody of the children and giving the father visiting time with his kids. This can be hard for any dad as your kids will not be with you all of the time. There are things that dads can do to help make this a good situation for them, their divorced spouse and their kids. 

Even though you can’t see your kids all the time as a father it is important to stay close with your kids. Try to live close to the custodial parents home so you can make it a priority to see your kids. By staying close it will be a lot easier and more convenient to see and spend time with your kids. If you want to keep a good relationship with your kids you need to make the effort. Go to their events such as sporting or performing. 

If you have to be away from your kids because of work make sure you still make an effort. You can video call your kids and tell them how much you are thinking about them. Send them care packages with unique things from where you are. 

When your kids are traveling between two homes, help your kids establish a routine at your house and make it fun. You should make the most out of every minute you have with your kids and when they are at your house you can really take advantage. 

The most important thing for a divorced dad to do is to just have a good relationship with his kids. When you are with them just always have it be fun and always try to build your relationships with your kids. Going through a divorce can be hard especially with kids so if you can learn how to manage it and to make the most of it you will be a lot better off especially with your kids.
